Signed on two-year deal from Charlton in June 2017, Dimi provided support for David Forde throughout his first season at the club, also making seven appearances and keeping an impressive clean sheet on his full league debut.
Progressing through the Athletic youth system, he played regularly at Under-23 level before arriving at the Abbey. Dimi became the U’s first-choice keeper shortly after the arrival of Colin Calderwood as Head Coach last season, keeping a further six clean sheets during the final months of the campaign. A former Bulgarian Under-21 international who has previously captained his country’s Under-19 side, Dimitar agreed an extension to his deal with United last summer and will remain at the club until June 2021.
