A vastly experienced goalkeeper, David penned a 1-yr deal with the U’s this summer following his departure from Millwall.
Having played his early football in Ireland with hometown club Galway United and then Welsh outfit Barry Town, he moved to West Ham in 2002.
With David James blocking his path to a first-team place, though, he returned to Galway via spells with Barnet and Derry City, prior to a 2007 switch to Cardiff.
After subsequent loans with Luton and Bournemouth, David settled at Millwall, where he racked up 339 appearances and clinched promotion to the Championship in 2010 courtesy of a Play-off Final win at Wembley.
He spent last season on loan at Portsmouth and was ever-present as the Fratton Park club secured the League Two title. David, who also kept 19 clean sheets for Pompey, boasts over 420 career appearances and has amassed 24 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
