Date of birth
A forward-thinking midfielder, George was signed from Barnsley during the summer of 2016.
Swelling the attacking options available to Shaun Derry, he scored regularly at youth level for the Tykes and, following a 20-goal haul during the 2013/14 season, was offered a first professional contract. Ironically, a first-team debut in April 2015 saw George replace former U's midfielder Luke Berry - then at Barnsley - as a substitute, with the 22-year old going on to make four appearances for the Yorkshire club. Prior to arriving at the Abbey Stadium on a one-year deal, he enjoyed loan spells with Nuneaton, Guiseley and then Lincoln, where he netted twice in 13 matches. George, who can play either centrally or on the left, has now made over 50 appearances for United and netted an impressive ten goals last season. An undoubted talent, he penned a further two-year deal with the U’s in April 2017.
