Leicester-born George agreed a permanent transfer from Mansfield Town during last summer after three separate loan spells at the Abbey Stadium.
Aged 26, he began his career with Leicester City, who subsequently loaned him to Kettering Town, York City and Swedish First Division outfit Karlstad BK, boosting his match experience. George then sealed a move to Burton in 2014, where he played 35 times and won a League Two title winners medal. A ball-playing left-sided defender he had a 13-game temporary spell with the U’s at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, but injury unfortunately cut short his stay. George moved to the Stags in May 2016, but a lengthy stint on the sidelines ensued following a hamstring tear. He re-joined the U's at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, renewed that deal in January 2018 and subsequently formed an impressive central defensive partnership with Greg Taylor. George finally signed a permanent two-year deal with United in July 2018.
