Cambridge United's Greatest Moments to launch this Saturday

11 December 2023

The official launch of Cambridge United's Greatest Moments will take place before Saturday's game against Blackpool...

Fans can head to the Kids' Zone from 12:30pm and pick up a copy of the new book for just £14.99 — with a limited number of signed editions available on the day.

Wembley-double hero Tom Champion and U's legend Harrison Dunk will be on hand to sign books from 1:30pm, while author Russell Greaves will also be in attendance.

And throughout December you can make your Christmas shopping that little bit easier by getting Cambridge United's Greatest Moments and 100 Things I Love About Cambridge United for just £19.99! This offer is not available online, so head down to the Abbey Stadium's Club Shop to take advantage.

Greaves' latest book is a 224-page hardback that represents a highlights reel of United's proud history, covering everything from promotion glory to FA Cup heroics, and signing Wes Hoolahan to repurchasing the Abbey.

The book features interviews with a host of U's stars past and present and the top 10 moments were voted for by fans. With more than 80 colour photographs, the beautifully designed production is also a visual treat.

Contributors include Hoolahan, Champion, Mark Bonner, Roy McFarland, John Taylor, Luke Chadwick, Paul Wanless, Steve Spriggs, Josh Coulson, Joe Ironside, and many more.

"We all have our cherished memories when it comes to Cambridge United, and there's a good chance your favourite one is covered in Cambridge United's Greatest Moments," said Greaves.

"The people I spoke to for this book are the ones who have really made it something special. Whether it was Ryan Donaldson talking about his Wembley heroics, or Richard Wilkins reflecting on the club's meteoric rise under John Beck, it was a joy to listen to them reminisce about the moments that helped shape the club we know and love today.

"The book covers multiple decades and runs right up until the final day of the 2022/23 season, which I'm sure is still fresh in the memory, but even in that chapter you'll read stories you've never heard before.

"And there are a few surprises in there too, a few names people might not expect to see — but who could resist turning the page to find out which ex-U is now selling sausages in Scandinavia, and which one is now trying to help guide his son to heights he once hoped to scale himself?

"It really is a must-read for all Cambridge fans and I'm so excited for people to get the chance to dive into it."
