Sam Smith has been voted the Love Cambridge Player of the Month for August...
The forward received a whopping 65% of the public vote following his four goal haul during the first month of the season, including a superb hat-trick against Burton Albion to help inspire the U's to a dramatic 4-3 win.
Smith, pictured at the iconic Scudamore’s Punt Station on Quayside, said it is an honour to be the first recipient of the award.
"I am delighted to win this award. It has been a good start to the season and it is always pleasing to chip in with some goals. The game against Burton was obviously a special one and I just hope we can continue to put in good performances and make the fans proud.
"I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and I would like to also thank Love Cambridge for helping show me around this beautiful city."
