Having seen off Sunderland, Charlton, Bolton, Rotherham, and Cheltenham before last weekend’s draw with Wigan Athletic, Liam Manning’s MK Dons head to the Abbey Stadium on Saturday in high spirits and will be aiming to move into automatic promotion contention with a win.
Former U Harry Darling salvaged a dramatic point against promotion rivals Wigan Athletic last weekend, arriving late into the area to head home Scott Twine’s 88th minute corner, after the whites had fallen a goal behind to Tom Naylor’s 58th minute goal, as 2nd and 3rd clashed at Stadium:MK.
Many were shocked to see supposedly Championship-bound Scott Twine sign for MK Dons in the summer following an impressive campaign last time out at both Newport and relegated Swindon, and the winger is certainly proving once again this season why he had second tier suitors throughout the summer.
The 22-year-old has contributed to 24 goals (14G, 10A) in 36 League One starts at Stadium MK and will no doubt be key if Liam Mannion’s side are to overcome the U’s again this weekend.

United head into Saturday’s fixture looking for a response following last weekend’s heavy defeat at Hillsborough, Saido Berahino’s 17-minute hattrick, coupled with goals from Barry Bannan, George Byers and a Lloyd Jones own goal condemned United to a 6-0 defeat, their heaviest of the season.
Despite last weekend’s hiccup, United are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten run at the Abbey Stadium in League One, having not tasted defeat on home turf since league leaders Rotherham United sealed a 1-0 win mid-way through December.
Head-to-Head
Liam Manning’s side make the 47-mile trip to the Abbey this afternoon boasting a 100 per-cent record over the U’s. Winning on all three occasions both sides have met. Milton Keynes have only ever faced United at the Abbey once, winning 1-0 thanks to Chuks Aneke’s goal en route to their eventual promotion from the fourth tier in 2018.
The Buckinghamshire based club will be aiming to be promoted to the second tier of English football for the first time since 2015 and would certainly take a repeat of the reverse fixture at Stadium:MK, whereby braces from Scott Twine and Max Watters succumbed the U’s to a 4-1 defeat in November.

Having sent off Zak Jules in his last outing, as Sunderland ran out 3-1 winners over Fleetwood a fortnight ago, Samuel Barrott will head up this weekend’s fixture at the Abbey Stadium.
Barrott will be joined by assistants Ollie Williams and Paul Lister, with Adrian Tranter overseeing the game as fourth official.
