U's ranked 2nd in Fan Engagement Index

25 February 2022

Cambridge United scored a second placed finish in the recent Fan Engagement Index, which measures engagement levels across all 92 Clubs in the top five tiers of English Football...

Each club is assessed on their dialogue with supporters, how supporters are represented as part of the club's governance and how transparent the club is with their supporters.

It's a one place jump for the U's who finished third in the 2019/20 table and the news further demonstrates United's culture of Fan Engagement and its commitment to supporters.

CEO Ian Mather said, "Engaging with our fans in a meaningful way is important to every football club. It is the fans that make a Club what it is. We are very pleased to be recognised for the way we do interact with our supporters in the latest Fan Engagement survey. Coming 2nd out of 92 is great, though it still leaves room for improvement!"

Kevin Rye, Think Fan Engagement owner added, "Cambridge United are an example of how you can build a culture of good Fan Engagement over time, rooted in real representation for fans at board level, but equally importantly, with real dialogue throughout the club with different sections of fans. It's a club I first visited as Brian Attmore took up his role as the first Fans Elected Director, and a club I hope continues to thrive with Fan Engagement where it should be - at its core."

Supporter Liaison Officer Dave Matthew Jones said, "Thank you to everyone involved in helping achieve this positive outcome. Fan Engagement is so important and should never be ignored or taken for granted. There are many different strands to Fan Engagement and this is the most important.

"Looking at the results there are still areas we can improve upon especially in transparency. Where we can make improvements we will review and do so. It shows we are going in the right direction and the importance of supporters at Cambridge United."
