U's supporting The Offside Trust at Wycombe match

1 April 2022

Cambridge United is pleased to host the Offside Trust and its East Anglian delegates to the Club's upcoming home match against Wycombe Wanderers...

The Offside Trust is ran by abuse survivors in sport and is established as an independent body to work alongside clubs, organisations and other charitable bodies to further enhance safeguarding at all levels of sport.

They have three main aims. To raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding across all sports at all levels. To provide survivors with advice, guidance and resources to aid the healing journey. To campaign for legal and regulatory changes to improve safeguarding in sport.

The East Anglia contingent for the Offside Trust including Ambassador Alan Arber have been invited to Tuesday's game, as the Club offers its support to help raise awareness.

The Offside Trust t-shirts will be worn by both sets of players during the pre-match warm-ups, the Matchday Programme will feature Alan Arber's powerful, personal story and the Club's media channels will publish a pre-match interview with him ahead of kick-off.

CEO Ian Mather said, "We are pleased to host The Offside Trust. This is an amazing organisation that raises awareness around the need for Safeguarding in sport and offers help to those who have been abused.

"Last November I attended staff training led by Alan Arber and it was a powerful talk about the need for vigilance in the way we safeguard young people.

"As a club we take Safeguarding very seriously and we are happy to give Alan and his team all the support and encouragement that we can.”
