Stadium Manager and Head Groundsman, Ian Darler, is aiming to complete his £10,000 fundraising goal at Cambridge United's upcoming home game against Portsmouth...
Having set out with the initial goal of walking one million steps and raising £10,000, Ian has now reached his steps count and is just £1500 shy of completing his remarkable challenge.
Small change can make a big difference to mental health, which is why we are asking all supporters to bring along any spare cash that they have in the house to Monday's match against Portsmouth and donate to Ian's raise. Bucket collectors will be placed at the turnstiles and around the ground.
Ian Darler said, "I am very grateful to everybody who has supported the challenge so far and I am blown away that we are currently at £8420.00. These donations will certainly help people who have been suffering with their mental health and could save someones life. If just 25% of our supporters bring £1 on Monday, we will reach our goal of £10,000, so please help if you can."
Alternatively, you can donate to Ian's JustGiving page. All money raised goes to mental health 24/7 crisis text line Shout 85258 so if you can, please donate or help raise awareness of Ian's Million Steps Challenge. Ian has experienced his own mental health challenges in the past, which have been widely documented, including in his book, Life a Pitch.
