2020/2021 HOME SHIRT RELEASE | IT’S TIME TO BE #CAMBANDPROUD

3 July 2020

The 2020/21 home kit has today been revealed as Cambridge United Football Club urges our supporters to demonstrate how truly ‘United in Endeavour’ we are, by showing their colours and being #CambAndProud.

Once again manufactured by the Club’s Technical Partner hummel, the shirt design includes the Danish Sportswear brand’s iconic chevrons and Cambridge United’s traditional amber and black colours which are featured in a striped design, unique to the Club. The Cambridge United motto “United in Endeavour” is also bespoke and for a second consecutive season remains an integral element to the jersey, this year emblazoned across the bottom rear.

The reality is that it may be some time until our fans are able to bounce down Newmarket Road, wearing the shirt, filled with the addictive anticipation of a match day. Despite this though, we believe there truly has never been a better or more significant time to adorn your shirt, show your colours and be #CambAndProud across our diverse city.

The incredible amount of additional work undertaken in response to Covid-19 by Cambridge United Community Trust through Here For U’s, has shown the power of sport and football in its ability to pull people of all backgrounds together and support the most vulnerable in our society during times of such adversity.

We hope that our fans pulling on this year’s shirt feel pride in not just representing support for the 11 players who take to the field at the Abbey, but also in representing those who continue to be positively affected by the Football Club’s work in genuinely being a part of our wonderful community.

Be proud that the shirt represents a child that has received a free lunch or an educational pack during their extended period away from school. Be proud to represent a senior citizen who has not been left to face this pandemic alone but has in fact taken part in regular virtual social gatherings and cafes. Be proud to represent a disability sport participant who has remained active through an online activity session. Be proud to show your support for a mentally healthy Club. Be proud to support a Club that is more than just Saturday afternoon but whose values lie at being at the beating heart of its own community.

Be #CambAndProud!

Ian Mather, CEO Commented: “Whilst it remains slightly uncertain of exactly when the new shirt will be pulled on for action in front of supporters at the Abbey, we are turning to our greatest representatives, our loyal fans, to show how truly United in Endeavour we are as a Football Club.

“The Football Club continues to steer its way through the unprecedented and challenging financial climate the Coronavirus outbreak has caused. Already the support of our fans through the reaction to the two week season ticket window, the take up on the Club’s alternative approach to ticket refunds and generally the large volume of goodwill messages received from supporters in recent months, has played a significant role in managing the situation. The release of the Club’s 2020/21 home shirt and the impact Cambridge United fans can have in simply showing their colours, is another fundamental element of the Football Club’s ongoing management too.

“We hope supporters are pleased with the design and encourage them to wear it proudly with the understanding of every aspect of the Club and city that it represents.”

Cambridge United are also delighted to confirm that both the Club’s home and away playing kits will carry club sponsors Mick George across the front and Hill across the back of the shirts, as well as SOS Leak Detection on the rear of the shorts.

The Amber Army can now pre-order their new kit online at cufcdirect.com and over the phone by calling 01223 566 500, with a date for general sale to be announced in due course. Pre-orders will be delivered by the end of July.
