PROGRAMME PREVIEW | OLDHAM ATHLETIC – RUSHIAN HEPBURN-MURPHY

8 March 2019

After bagging his first professional goal for the U’s last weekend, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has been speaking to tomorrow’s match day programme as this weekend’s player feature - Read a preview of the Oldham Athletic programme here!

The programme will be available to buy around the ground, from the CFU Van, and in the club shop for just £3.

Tickets for the fixture are still available online here. Tickets will be available in the ticket office until kick off at 3:00pm.

Programme Preview:

Having watched the authoritative manner in which Hepburn-Murphy tucked away his chance against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, those unaware of the youngster’s background could be forgiven for mistaking him as a striker with experience beyond his tender age and having netted a career’s worth of opportunities.

The Villa loanee made a pivotal impact as he ensured United completed a memorable away victory and takes great delight in recollecting his 82nd minute strike and the first of his professional career.

“I was lost in my emotions, doing all sorts of celebrations over by the supporters,” he said.

“It’s just so good to get my first professional goal, and I enjoyed it. I was just thinking to myself, keep it hard and low across goal because they’re hard for the keepers to save. Thankfully I did that and it’s gone in the back of the net.

“Most of my goals are from that kind of angle, going low across goal so once I had the ball in that position I always thought I was going to score from there. It was about doing what I normally do from there.”

He continued: “Sitting on the bench I identified that pace would kill them and so had the gaffer. When he told me to warm up, I was thinking to myself, use my pace, get on the last shoulder of their defence, and that’s really how the goal came about thank to a great pass from Jevani to put me through.”
