It’s not often that you get to share a cuppa with three first team players in your own living room, but that’s what happened to lifelong U’s fan, Wendy Twinn this week.
Wendy, who never misses a U’s game and volunteers at the club every day to help in any way she can, recently celebrated her birthday, so the players that she sponsors – Greg Taylor, Jabo Ibehre and Gary Deegan – went round with a cake to help her mark the occasion!
“It was a lovely surprise and it was nice to spend that time together with the players, who were all really friendly and likeable young men.
“We shared a piece of birthday cake and a drink, and had a chat about all sorts of things from life at home with their kids, when their birthdays were and a bit about the Football Club.
“We really enjoyed it and the boys are welcome back anytime!”
Meanwhile, Piero Mingoia and David Forde paid a visit to Hockeys Estate Agents in Willingham who are their sponsors for the 2017/18 season. They chatted to the Hockeys Team and gave company Director Jeremy Trott, a big U’s supporter, the inside track on training this week and thoughts on their upcoming matches.
“It was great to meet Piero and David, we had a good chat about the Peterborough game next month and David told us about some of the big local derbies he’s been involved in, including West Ham v Millwall”.
There are a limited number of first team players left to sponsor. Benefits include their signed match-worn shirt at the end of the season, two sponsors’ events where you get to meet and chat to your player and priority seating with your player at the Club’s Christmas Dinner.
