MATCH PREVIEW: MORECAMBE FC

Cambridge United return to the Cambs Glass Stadium on Saturday afternoon following consecutive weeks on the road, as they face Morecambe FC in Sky Bet League Two.

Boosted by the return of Harrison Dunk and Adam McGurk in recent weeks, Manager Shaun Derry has a competitive group of players to select his starting side against the Shrimps.

United will be looking to build on the momentum of last week’s second half display against Plymouth Argyle, which saw the U’s edged out by the League leaders at Home Park.

Meanwhile, tomorrow’s visitors will be looking too bounce back at the first opportunity following their 5-1 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers last Saturday.

Jim Bentley’s side will be keen to quickly restore the form that saw them soar through August with four League wins and just one defeat.

Back-to-back home losses in the previous two rounds of fixtures has seen Morecmabe knocked from the perch of the League Two table and into 7th position.

However, the Shrimps have certainly not lacked fire power so far this season, with Cole Stockton (5), Jack Dunn (4) and Kevin Ellison (4) heavily contributing to Morecambe’s goal tally, meaning United will need to a close eye on them.

Cambridge United currently hold the advantage in the head-to-head record between the sides, with four wins to the Shrimps three, including last season’s record 7-0 at the Cambs Glass Stadium.

Manager Shaun Derry said: “We want it to be a big afternoon, a big event, and we want it to be a big occasion for everybody connected with the football club.

“Morecambe have enjoyed a very good start, but our only focus is us. We have good quality within this squad of players and right around the football club, in terms of the supporters and everybody connected with Cambridge United.

“We want to pull all of that together on Saturday, and seize the occasion.”
