MATCH PREVIEW: DOVER ATHLETIC | EMIRATES FA CUP

Cambridge United begin their Emirates FA Cup journey this weekend by welcoming Dover Athletic to the Cambs Glass Stadium for the First Round.

The U’s will be looking to take the spoils in the first ever meeting between the sides, in order to book a place in Monday night’s Second Round draw.

A win would provide the perfect response to last weekend’s frustrating result against Portsmouth in the League, and also kick start a week of cup action ahead of the U’s final Checkatrade Trophy group fixture against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Shaun Derry’s men will be boosted by the return of Luke Berry from suspension as well as fellow midfielder Medy Elito who has recovered from an injury that has seen him side-lined since the U’s win over Newport County back in September. However, Adam McGurk’s fitness will require a late assessment after he hobbled off with a leg problem last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Dover Athletic approach the encounter in good form and currently sit in 7th position in the National League following a positive opening three months to the campaign.

The Whites did see a three match winning streak ended last weekend at the hands of fellow promotion rivals Tranmere Rovers, but will be a tricky outfit for United to keep tabs on.

In the FA Cup, Chris Kinnear’s side defeated Burgess Hill Town 5-0 away from Crabble to book their place in this afternoon’s First Round and set up a tie with the U’s.
