Sneak Preview:

CENTURY MAN ROBBIE SIMPSON DISCUSSES THE HEALTHY COMPETITION CURRENTLY SURROUNDING THE FIRST TEAM AND THE WILL TO PUSH EACH OTHER ON TO HIGHER LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE.

The striker feels that a determination to work hard,  high intensity levels in training and a collective ambition to drive each other forward is a huge contributing factor to the U's recent run of form, which currently sees them unbeaten in their last six Sky Bet League Two games.

Simpson said: “Everybody is pushing each other hard in training and no matter what team the manager picks for the game on Saturday, everybody is fit and ready to play.

“There is a great vibe about the club at the minute.

“Those who are not currently involved in the team, train harder every single day, which then pushes the players that are in the team to keep their shirts.

“I think because of that we have reaped the rewards, with five wins in the last six and a draw against Mansfield. There is a real unity and momentum is building but I can assure you the gaffer won’t let us rest.

“He keeps pushing us on and is hungry for win after win. I haven’t played too much game time under him but I can honestly say he has been brilliant and we’ll all keep pushing towards our end goal.”

A number of new features for the New Year are also included in today’s edition, including Shaun Derry’s Dream Team and a profile of Cambridge United’s iconic gaolkeeper John Vaughan for the new Legend’s Wall page.
