CAMBRIDGE UNITED WELCOME TWO NEW CHAPLAINS FOR ACADEMY AND WOMEN'S TEAM
Cambridge United are delighted to welcome Danny Driver and Sarah Hancock to accompany Club Chaplain Stuart Wood in supporting the Youth Team and Cambridge United Women's FC.
Liverpool-born Danny is currently training to be a vicar at Ridley Hall in Cambridge, where he continues to learn about the Christian faith and its relevance to all people in Britain today. Having grown up playing football and competing nationally in the sprint hurdles, Danny is aware of the pressures that come with competing at the elite level.
From his sporting experience and training, Danny aims to support the scholars, parents and coaching staff at Cambridge United in any way possible.
Meanwhile, Sarah is also training to be a Vicar of the Church of England at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. Originally from the Wirral, Sarah has lived in the South of England for the last 11 years and is looking to use her training to help support Cambridge United's Women's team as they continue their fine 2016/17 season.
Club Chaplain Stuart Wood commented: "Over the 12 years I have served as Chaplain at CUFC, I have been all too aware that as my time is limited, I cannot serve all aspects of the club effectively myself.
"So I was thrilled when Danny first expressed an interest in getting involved with the Scholars, and then through Danny, Sarah got in touch about getting involved with the Cambridge United Women's team – something that I would never have had the time for.
"I'm delighted the club has endorsed these appointments and I look forward to continuing to work alongside both Danny and Sarah. They have already been involved.
"However, as Theological Students training for the ministry, this coming summer time next year they will both be moving on from Cambridge, so we'll be keeping our eyes and ears open for the next generation to come and work at United so that we can continue to offer the best support we can to players, staff, volunteers and fans throughout the club."
