FAN OFFERS LAUNCHED

14 March 2015

Save money while watching the U's!

CAMBRIDGE United are delighted to announce that they have launched a new and exciting initiative called Fan Offers that enables fans of Cambridge United to earn money for the club buy simply purchasing the things they want or need in everyday life!  The initiative was launched on Saturday at the U’s home game against Stevenage and it is free to all fans of Cambridge United.

Fan Offers is a Cambridge startup supported by Accelerate at the Cambridge Judge Business School.  The company was founded by 37 year old entrepreneur Gareth Lippiatt. A graduate of the business school’s executive MBA programme, he launched Fan Offers having researched the problem of the increasing costs of being a fan during his studies.

The way it works is that the company partners with professional clubs to enable fans to directly access both exclusive offers and other everyday purchases through their website www.fan-offers.com The fan’s club receives a commission for every transaction made through the site, with the company also planning to announce details of a reward scheme later in the year. The company have already recruited brands such as Expedia, Papa Johns, Sports Direct and Red Letter Days.  Fans just simply need to go on to the website and start saving.  It couldn’t be easier!!

Founder Gareth Lippiatt explains “I’m a fan myself, so I know just how much it costs to watch live sport and it’s an issue that has been widely reported for years. Being an entrepreneur, working out how we could do something about that was a challenge that I couldn’t resist. The Judge Business School have given me a great platform to turn my ideas into a scalable business, firstly through the EMBA program but equally Accelerate has been invaluable in providing the focus and advice to get this project off the ground. I really hope that the Cambridge United fans find the platform beneficial as they support the U’s and it’s been a pleasure working with such a forward thinking club.”

Dave Doggett, Chairman of Cambridge United said, “Fan Offers chose to work with Cambridge United to develop their platform ahead of a number of clubs largely because of our loyal fan base.  We really hope that the Amber Army will get behind this initiative as another was of supporting the U’s because the financial rewards will really help the club moving forward.  It costs you nothing to use and from every purchase that you make through the site, our club gets a percentage of what you spend! With enough support, Fan Offers can make a big difference to what we can achieve on and off the pitch over the next few years.”

Launched at Cambridge United’s match with local rivals Stevenage on Saturday 14th March, Fan Offers look forward to working with the U’s and their supporters over the coming month to growing a scheme that saves fans money whilst they support their club.

It takes less than 30 seconds to register for an account at www.fan-offers.com and the simple layout means that fans can instantly find their favourite brands. The user then simply clicks on the brand that they wish to make a purchase with and continue shopping as normal, knowing that a small percentage of whatever they spend goes to their chosen club.
