SNEAK PREVIEW: LEON LEGGE

22 August 2015

Read a sneak preview of today’s Match Day Programme

The Amber Army can now read a sneak preview of Leon Legge’s feature article in the match day programme, which will be available around the ground, in the club shop and the Main Stand Retail Outlet.

The U’s centre half talks about the start of the season, his partnership with Cambridge United captain Mark Roberts and his incredible footballing journey, with the full article available on pages 16-19 of today’s programme (just £3!).

PREVIEW:

Already Legge has proven popular with coaches, players and supporters alike at the Abbey Stadium, as a dominant figure at the heart of the U’s defence.

Had his effort on the opening day of the season against Newport County not been ruled out perhaps a little unfairly, the 30-year old would currently sit on a two goals in two games ratio, with just the one conceded goal against him.

He explains how pleased he’s been to see the U’s fly out the traps so far this season and hopes to continue the early momentum this afternoon at the Abbey Stadium.

“It’s what we wanted, a good start, we couldn’t ask for anything more really. I think seven points out of a possible of nine is a really solid return,” he said.

“Already we have shown we can win games in different ways and that is a good test of character. We need to be able to win pretty but also dig in deep like we did on Tuesday at Wimbledon and get a good result against a solid side.

“We take it one game at a time so once we got Tuesday out of the way, we have been able to focus on today with the home advantage, which will hopefully give us a great chance for another three points.

He added: “I don’t know what sort of side Crawley are like this year, but they’ve come down in to this League and I’m sure will be desperate to go straight back up.

“It should be a good, tough game.”

Meanwhile, columns from Chairman Dave Doggett, Chief Executive Jez George and Manager Richard Money are all included, as well as the usual stats, Player Q & A with Harrison Dunk this week and Junior U’s section.

Tickets for the game are available on walk up at the ticket office right up to kick off, so there is still time to head down to the Abbey Stadium and enjoy the action.
