MATCH PREVIEW: CRAWLEY TOWN

22 August 2015

U's take on Crawley Town today at the Abbey Stadium

Cambridge United host Crawley Town at the Abbey Stadium today as the U’s look to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2015/16 Sky Bet League Two campaign.

Following three games on the road Richard Money’s side return to home soil to face the Red devils, with seven points from a possible nine in Football League action so far this season.

Currently sat in fourth position in the league table, a win this afternoon would cement a positive early start and continue their momentum as the prospect of five tough home fixtures lay ahead.

The Visitors arrive in Cambridge with a rather deceptive two points to their name so far. Impressive draws against hotly tipped sides Oxford United and Portsmouth show that Mark Yates’ men will be no pushovers in the fixture.

The last time the two sides met the U’s bowed out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Crawley, so Richard Money will be hoping for a better result on this occasion.

The United boss commented: “Crawley have had a very tough start to the season, but having seen all their games, I can say they were very good at Oxford in which they made life difficult for them and could have won, they were the dominant team against Wimbledon, and then they had a good result against Portsmouth on Tuesday.

“They will be difficult to play against and are a tight, organised unit so we will have to play well.

He continued: “We’ll be back on home soil which can have a huge impact. There will be no doubt that some of them will have travelled to Rotherham, Carlisle and Wimbledon over the last two weeks and for that I say well done because that is a lot of travelling.

“I think we saw particularly on Tuesday night that there is a real togetherness between the supporters and the players this season. I’m sure there will be another great crowd for the Crawley game and the fans will support at the times we most need it.”

Tickets for the fixture are available online until 1pm whilst supporters who wish to walk up to the game can also buy tickets from the ticket office right up to kick off.
