U'S v ACCRINGTON - SEASON OF ACTION

9 April 2015

U's supporting Kick It Out's Season of Action

In partnership with Sepura, Cambridge United are supporting Kick It Out’s Season of Action, which focuses on community activity to tackle all forms of discrimination. The U’s have designated the home game against Accrington Stanley on Saturday 11th April as our Kick It Out day, and will be offering discounted tickets for the South Stand to Partner Clubs, disability football groups, girls football groups, local community groups and schools. Online bookings for the South Stand will automatically be entered into a draw to win the chance to play a Kick It Out-themed game of Zorb football on the pitch at half-time. A number of community leaders, including the Mayor, Councillor Gerri Bird, will be guests on the day.

In addition, this week Cambridge United first-team players will visit local primary schools to deliver the message of anti-discrimination to hundreds of children. This will take the form of a specially-designed physical activity, which will encourage the children to think about discrimination in a new way. The children will also have the opportunity to ask the players about their own experiences of discrimination and playing with different types of people.

Danny Kerrigan of the Community Trust said: “Cambridge United are committed to ensuring our Club is free from all discrimination, and with the help of  Sepura, the Trust’s Headline Sponsor for 2014/15, we will spread this message to the wider community.  One of the major themes of the Trust’s work is inclusion; we are dedicated to celebrating diversity and offering opportunities, regardless of any consideration of age, gender, race, sexuality, ability, or any other characteristic.”
