U'S SIGN JORDAN CHIEDOZIE

28 November 2014

Cambridge United sign Jordan Chiedozie on 18-month deal

CAMBRIDGE United can confirm the signing of Jordan Chiedozie from Conference South side Concord Rangers.

The 20-year-old striker joined the Essex side in July 2014 after leaving AFC Bournemouth, who he joined at the age of 13.

Jordan scored seven times for Concord in 11 League and FA Cup appearances this season.

Speaking exclusively to the U's website, Jordan said: "I'm delighted to have signed for Cambridge United.  It's a good step in the right direction for me.  It's all gone through quickly and I would like to thank Cambridge for their patience as I know it was a difficult process."

He continued: "I came down to Cambridge, spoke to Richard Money and saw the direction in which the club is going and the plans they have.  As soon as I came here I knew this was the right place for me to come.  There was a number of options on the table for me, but I want to be in and around a first team set-up at a club that can help me improve as a player and I believe that Cambridge United is the best place for me to do that."

U's Chief Executive, Jez George, said: "Jordan was a non-contract player at Concord which enabled us to sign him outside the transfer window.  We were aware of a number of far bigger clubs  showing an interest in him so we've worked really hard and really quickly to secure his signature.  We would like to thank Concord Rangers for their help and cooperation.  We have huge respect for them.  They have had great success over the last few years and they are doing a fantastic job in developing young players."

Jordan has been allocated squad number 40 and is available for selection when the U's travel to AFC Wimbledon tomorrow.
