R COSTINGS ABBEY STADIUM - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

7 August 2014

Important information for supporters ahead of the 2014/15 League 2 season

CAMBRIDGE United return to Football League action on Saturday, Plymouth Argyle are the visitors to the R Costings Abbey Stadium for a 3pm kick-off.

After a nine-year absence from the Football League, supporters should be aware of the following changes that have been put in place so that the U’s comply with FIFA, UEFA, FA and Football League Ground Regulations.

The R Costings Abbey Stadium is now a somke-free stadium.  Supporters cannot smoke in any area of the ground, including previously designated smoking areas.  Supporters should be aware that this also applies to electronic cigarettes and vaporisers.  This is in line with section 15 of the FIFA, UEFA, FA and Football League regulations:

“15. Football League stadia are smoke-free and smoking is not permitted inside the Ground”

Supporters should also be aware that no alcohol is permitted outside of licensed premises within the R Costings Abbey Stadium and in view of the pitch, in line with section 17 of the above regulations:

“17. Under the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc) Act 1985 (as amended), the following are  offences for which a person can be arrested by a police officer and conviction could result  in a Banning Order being made:
17.1 Attempting to enter the Ground or being inside the Ground whilst drunk;
17.2 Being in possession of any intoxicating liquor, or bottle, can or other portable container and which could cause damage or personal injury, when entering the
Ground or in a public area of the Ground from which the event can be directly viewed.”

Supporters should be aware that failure to comply with any of the above regulations could result in ejection from the stadium and possible arrest.

The club would like to thank all supporters for their cooperation in what promises to be an exciting 2014/15 season.
