FA Cup first round tie ends in draw

Cambridge United drew 0-0 at Bury in the FA Cup first round this evening.

The U's left Greater Manchester unlucky not to secure their place in the second round against Sheffield United after a stalemate at the JD Stadium.

Cambridge had the most of the possession in the first 15 minutes but the next chance fell for the home side as Craig Jones danced his way past Taylor and Dunk, but Jones’s shot was blocked and the rebound fell to Soares who blasted over.

The first half was a half full of half chances with the next one falling to U’s striker Cunnington who took it down well but his shot just went wide.

Bury tried to find a way through the solid U's defence and chances fell both for Harrard and Hylton but were defended well by the U’s

Bury’s best chance of the half came when the ball was whipped in from the left which found Mayor but his shot ended up over Chirs Maxwell's bar.

Cambridge finished the half exactly how they started with chances falling to Cunningham and Appiah, but not quite testing Jensen in the Bury net.
