A 2015 close season signing, Leon agreed a two-contract with United following his departure from Gillingham. Aged 31, this towering centre-half began his career with Sussex County League sides Eastbourne United and Hailsham Town before joining Lewes during 2005.

He won promotion to the Conference whilst with the Rooks, had a brief spell at Tonbridge Angels, then made his move into the Football League when Brentford swooped at the start of the 2009/10 campaign. Leon spent three and a half seasons with the West London club, making 115 appearances and scoring ten goals, whilst reaching the 2011 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final. He made the switch to Gillingham in January 2013 following a loan spell, contributing greatly to their League Two title success later that season.

An experienced defender, he played 92 times for the Priestfield club, accumulating another eight goals towards his career tally. A popular figure, his surprise release by the Kent club boosted competition within the U’s rearguard as well as adding a vociferous presence. Leon scored three times for United last season, displaying his prowess at both ends of the pitch during 40 appearances.
