24-year old Conor arrived at the Cambs Glass Stadium in July 2015 having opted to leave Championship side Rotherham. A youth player with Newcastle, he worked under Richard Money at St James Park, with the former U’s boss then employed as Academy Director.

He later enjoyed two productive loan spells north of the border with St Mirren, making 61 appearances throughout the 2012/13 and 2013/14 campaigns. A right-sided midfielder, he also bagged eight goals for the club including, memorably, the winner in a 3-2 Scottish League Cup Final victory over Hearts.

Conor, who agreed a two-year deal with the U’s, moved south to join Rotherham at the beginning of the 2014/15 season, playing in fourteen matches before his departure. He became a regular in United’s engine room last year, playing 26 matches before a back complaint forced him to miss the remaining four months of the campaign.
