Notts County 2 v 3 Cambridge United

Cambridge eventually ran out winners of a very close match between two teams playing some excellent football.

After some cat and mouse for ten minutes Cambridge opened the scoring after good work from Venesha Hempstead and Charis Johnston put Sophie Wing clear to lob the keeper fro 18 yards out. The game again lapsed into very even play until on 29 minutes Notts were awarded a free kick 25 yards from the Cambridge goal and were the first to react as the ball cleared the back line fining home from close range to equalise.

The second 30 minutes was a mirror of the first with Notts scoring 10 mins in when Cambridge failed to clear their line. Cambridge equalised late on when Samara Nche was released 30 yards from goal out pacing the centre back to slide the ball past the keeper for number 2.

Into the last 30 with both teams trying to break down the other and Notts County forcing several good saves from Eleanor Morgan who was making her debut in goal.
Cambridge weathered the storm and with 12 minutes left released Samara Nche to yet again outpace the last defender and crash the ball past the Notts Goalkeeper. Cambridge were able to shut up shop and ran out 3 - 2 winners, their 3rd win on the road.
Player of the match was Leigh Anne Robe with an excellent performance at the centre of defence.

Notts County 4 v 0 Cambridge United

Cambridge United saw their unfortunate start to the season continue as they were defeated away from home for the second time. Playing against a strong Notts County side, they found their strength in depth too much to handle. The young U's did put up a brave fight with captain and player of the match, Louise Fensome, leading by example. However, with Notts County always having fresh legs to bring on and United finishing the last 20 mins with 10 players, it was always going to be a mountain too high to climb.
