With the opening week of the 2010-11 season drawing to a close, each Conference club has completed their first two fixtures of the campaign.
After a total of twenty-four matches on Saturday and Tuesday only two sides have managed to secure a maximum six points out of six, while only one team is yet to register a point. That side is Barrow following successive 3-1 losses at Histon and then at home to Gateshead.
Luton Town and Wimbledon, two of the ten former Football League clubs in the division this season, find themselves atop the division at this early stage. Matthew Barnes Homer has struck four times already in victories for The Hatters over Altrincham and Kettering, while Wimbledon are yet to concede a goal after successes at Tamworth and against Histon.
The season was just five days old when the first managerial departure of the campaign was announced on Thursday evening. After being sent to the stands in that defeat at Wimbledon, John Beck parted ways with Histon. This leaves Brian Page to take charge of Saturday's visit to Newport. The Welsh side are the only of the four promoted sides yet to record a win. Fleetwood hold four points after trouncing Mansfield 3-0 on Tuesday (former U Magno Vieira with two goals), while Bath City surprised Rushden and Diamonds with a 2-1 win. Southport's first away fixture back at this level ended in a 4-3 away win at Kidderminster, setting up Saturday's visit to Cambridge United.
The U's comeback from 2-0 down to draw with Crawley saw both sides get off the mark for the season after 1-0 losses to Wrexham and Grimsby respectively, while those two sides promptly failed to build upon those wins by failing to score on Tuesday; Wrexham crashing 3-0 at Forest Green as The Mariners drew with York. The side to come down from League Two with the Cleethorpes club was Darlington, who also have four points after beating Newport and coming back to draw 2-2 at Altrincham.
Tamworth sat atop the league after day one following a 4-2 triumph over Eastbourne but a 1-1 draw at Newport saw them lose their perfect start. Eastbourne responded from their defeat by thumping Hayes and Yeading 5-0, a poor comedown for Hayes after their opening win against Bath.
The league table at this early stage isn't something that should be read into a great deal but, with fixtures coming up thick and fast in the opening three weeks of the season, each club will be desperate to build up momentum as they fight to achieve their respective goals for the campaign.
