Eight Blue Square Premier fixtures took place at the weekend, but the expulsion of Chester City has ensured the league table will be altered once their results are expunged. Clubs who have taken points from The Blues will lose those points, benefitting those who are still to play them or who had failed to take maximum points.
Despite not being in action, Oxford will have been pleased with results elsewhere as York City fell to their first home league defeat of the season, Liam Marum scoring the only goal in a shock win for Eastbourne. The Sports were not the only relegation threatened side to earn a crucial win as Barrow came away from Ebbsfleet with a 4-1 success.
Nick Chadwick's hattrick inspired The Bluebirds' win as they climbed out of the bottom four (before Chester's results are removed) at the expense of Gateshead. Grays are another side who are struggling greatly but they came away from Altrincham with a credible 1-1 draw.
Elsewhere Salisbury are now six points above the drop zone after sharing the spoils with Wrexham, Matt Tubbs rescuing a point with a late penalty after his side had to play the last twenty minutes a man short. Former Cambridge United man Christian Smith had given the Welsh side the lead.
Local rivals Rushden and Kettering remain a point apart from each other after a goalless draw in an early kickoff on Saturday, sandwiched by fifth place Luton despite The Hatters falling to a late 2-1 loss at Crawley. Kidderminster trounced Histon 3-0 to maintain their distant playoff chances alive, while Mansfield climbed to just two points from the top five after a last minute equaliser from Gary Silk prevented a loss at Hayes & Yeading.
Former Cambridge City man Dale Binns looked to have won it for the hosts, but Mansfield's playoff chances will take a hit as they are one of the sides due to lose six points when Chester's results are expunged.
Seven midweek fixtures take place in the Blue Square Premier as sides attempt to catch up the large number of matches that fell foul to the winter weather.
