Round thirteen of the Blue Square Premier campaign took place on Saturday, as all twenty-four sides from the division took part in competitive action. The low scoring nature of this season's league continued to shine through, and after the first thirteen matches a mere 2.04 goals are being scored per fixture.
Nine of the sides in action kept clean sheets, while only two were able to score on more than two occasions. Crawley Town remain on top of the division despite falling to defeat for the first in ten outings.
Manager Steve Evans returned to the touchline for the first time all season after his hefty ban since the end of last season, only to see his side succumb to an injury time penalty from Greg Pearson which secured Burton Albion a 2-1 triumph. That was Pearson's second of the afternoon for Brian Clough's men, who now sit second in the table after coming from behind to win.

Crawley's loss gave Kidderminster the opportunity to move to the top of the league, but they fell to a surprise defeat at the hands of Barrow. Despite conceding just two goals and dropping two points from five home games to this point, Kiddy were upset by Mark Boyd's early freekick. The result also ends a four game run without a point for Barrow.
Mansfield Town sat third at the start of play but they succumbed to one of the biggest upsets of the season so far. With just two dropped points at home, The Stags fell to a 1-0 loss against Woking, who themselves have found some form recently.
After three home wins in a row, Phil Gilchrist's Woking secured their first away win in seven attempts due to Giuseppe Sole's penalty just before the hour. After no wins in eight, The Cards now have twelve points from five fixtures.
Kettering Town climbed back into the playoff places after responding to their opening losses of the season, coming from behind to beat Northwich Victoria 2-1. Chris Beardsley and Craig Westcarr struck in the final twenty minutes to already leave The Vics eight points from safety.

Northwich sit two points from their nearest rival, which is Lewes after The Rooks remained unbeaten for a third game in a row. Their goalless draw at Grays Athletic, also in the bottom four, was the first time both sides had kept a clean sheet all season.
Eastbourne Borough are the final team in the drop zone after they fell into those placings for the first time all season. Former Cambridge United trialist Pierre Joseph-Dubois scored an injury time winner to present Weymouth with a 3-2 win, The Terras' first home win in five.
Despite playing against ten men for the final forty minutes following the dismissal of Scott Doe, Eastbourne could not force a victory after Matt Smart had equalised. The Sports fall below Woking after their win at Mansfield, and also Oxford United after their second home win in a row.
Adam Quinn and Phil Trainer scored the goals either side of the interval as The U's saw off Rushden and Diamonds 2-1 at the Kassam Stadium. Despite Daryl Clare scoring yet again for Rushden, his new side lost for the first time in five.

Another side to claim victory was Altrincham, who are unbeaten in four matches in an unexpected upturn in fortunes. The Robins have just one loss in six and their 2-0 win against Ebbsfleet United was their third home win in a row. Colin Little and Chris Senior struck the goals in the first half.
Torquay United are a team who are also on a rich vein of form at present. After just one win in the opening seven games of the season, Paul Buckle has overseen his side drop just two points in six outings since then. They faced Stevenage Borough, themselves only two points short of a maximum from five previous fixtures.
After a tense opening, The Gulls struck three times in the final twenty-three minutes to record something of a rout. Chris Robertson opened the scoring, soon to be accompanied on the score sheet by Tim Sills and Nicky Wroe.
York City maintained their record of being one of three sides to remain unbeaten at home this season, after yet another drawn fixture. Their 0-0 draw with Cambridge United means The Minstermen have just one win in eleven, but have also lost only twice in that period. The U's have a similar record away from home; four of their last five travelling fixtures have been drawn.

After being top of the division at the start of September, an astonishing decline now sees Forest Green Rovers sitting outside the drop zone only by virtue of goal difference. Wrexham were the latest beneficiaries of this run, winning 3-2 at The New Lawn.
Andrew Mangan had scored twice for the hosts as Marc Williams netted a brace of his own in reply, before Jefferson Louis struck from the spot two minutes into injury time to secure Wrexham's second away win of the season, and give new boss Dean Saunders a winning start.
The final match of the afternoon saw former Cambridge United midfielder Josh Simpson open his account for Histon. He opened the scoring as The Stutes climbed above Salisbury City with a 2-0 win, Jonathon Bass netting an own goal to complete the scoring.
With the Blue Square Premier continuing to be extremely tight in terms of league position, Tuesday night presents another opportunity for sides to put themselves into contention for playoff places or haul themselves away from relegation worries. With the league as tight as it is, a few wins in the coming weeks will make a huge difference.
