Profiles of this year's intake of scholars:

Ross Chapman - lives in London, ex Millwall. Ross is an excellent shot stopper and a brave goalkeeper who we feel should challenge Richard Mace for a place in the FA Youth Cup team and push Sam Beagle for the CRC No.1 jersey.

Rogan McGeorge - born and bred in Cambridge, Rogan and his family are massive Cambridge United fans. A right back, Rogan has impressed since coming on trial from Fulbourn Falcons last season and thoroughly deserved his scholarship. What he lacks in inches, he makes up for with his attitude, desire and determination.

Owen Kessack - lives in Ashford, ex Gillingham. A tough tackling and skilful left back, Owen is also a star in the classroom with a string of A* grades predicted in his GCSE's. He has an excellent attitude and will work hard to gain a starting place in the Ridgeons League team.

Blaine Hudson - lives in Lowestoft, ex Norwich City. The signing of Blaine was a massive bonus as it occurred so late in our selection process. Once he left Norwich, we immediately invited him to join us on a tour with the scholars to France. Blaine capped a weekend of fine displays with two goals against Hajduk Split and we were delighted that he accepted our offer of a scholarship. At 6 foot, 5 inches he is an imposing figure and we envisage him quickly earning a starting place in the CRC team.

Luke Berry - lives in Bassingbourn and has been in our youth system (previously at Cambridge City) since he was 11 years old. We were delighted that he chose to accept our offer of a scholarship ahead of the overtures from several much bigger clubs. Luke is a midfield player with good technical ability and loads of energy, as well as being surprisingly good in the air for his size and capable of scoring goals. Luke is an exciting talent, he takes everything in his stride and we hope he progresses even quicker with the challenge of senior football.

Liam Hughes - lives in Scunthorpe and was previously with his home town club. We first spotted Liam at the Exit Trials in Leeds and Lilleshall last season and, after a brief trial, had no hesitation in offering him a scholarship. Despite his 6 foot 3 inches frame, Liam is just 15 and can't play in our first CRC fixture as his 16th birthday is not until the following day! He is a player with excellent technique and great potential.

Jack Eades - lives in Derby, ex Nottingham Forest. We first saw Jack as a skilful midfielder but we felt he was more suited to a wide position where his forte of beating players plus his long passing and crossing ability mark him out as an exciting talent. As he starts to understand the demands of men's football, Jack will hope to challenge JP for a starting position on the right flank.

Josh Cooper - another Scunthorpe lad also signed from his home town team. Josh is extremely athletic, has good pace and a great left foot. We offered him a scholarship after he impressed on trial towards the end of last season with excellent performances in a tour at Repton School and with the scholars in France. His work rate, fitness and attitude have already stood out in pre-season.

Jack Bailey - lives in Welwyn Garden City, ex Norwich City. Following trials with Colchester United and Southampton, we were delighted to sign Jack ahead of a clutch of Football League clubs. A 6 foot 3 inches centre forward with a prolific goalscoring record, Jack has a great deal of potential and we feel that once he comes to terms with the physical demands, he will make a real impact in the Ridgeons League this season.
