An ex-Chelsea trainee, Rob joined the U's on a non-contract basis in February 2006 after being released by Oxford United.

The strong, skilful midfielder began his career at Chelsea but was restricted to just two first team appearances in five years there, and after loan spells at Bristol Rovers (2000), Portsmouth (2001) and Northampton (2001) he joined Bradford City in 2003.

He was a first team regular there but was released due to Bradford's financial situation and joined Oxford in 2004, released a year later after suffering injury problems.

A former Stamford Bridge team-mate of Courtney Pitt, Wolleaston was invited to train with United and prove his fitness, and after three goals in 13 increasingly impressive appearances he was awarded a one year deal at the end of the 2005/06 season.

Last season (06/07) was mixed for Rob; captain for a spell early in the season but then out of favour for a while until he forced his way back into the side and finished the season in great form, earning a new deal for this season, and further impressive form this season saw him sign a two-year contract extension to 2010 in January.
