This Southend-born central midfielder graduated through the Ipswich Town academy and joined the U's on loan in February 2009.
A strong, determined, footballing midfielder, he made his senior debut in the 3-1 win at Kidderminster and set up United's second goal. He adapted well to first team football and his loan was extended to the end of the season as he made 18 appearances, scoring twice, and became an integral part of the team.
Released by Ipswich at the end of the season, Jai agreed terms with the U's for a one-year contract despite interest from Football League clubs and will be looking to build on his good first season.
