An experienced, dominant centre-half who joined in June 2007 on a one-year-deal after being released by twice-relegated Boston United.

This is the second time Albrighton has worked with U's assistant manager Alan Lewer, who signed him from Atherstone for Telford in 1999, and when Telford went part-time in 2002 Doncaster Rovers paid £10,000 for the commanding central defender.

'Brights' spent four successful seasons with Doncaster as they won promotion from the Conference and subsequently to League One, but finished the 2005/06 season on loan at Chester City in League Two and joined Boston last summer when he was released by Rovers.

Albrighton was a regular at Boston for the first half of last season but when it became necessary to cut the wage bill he was among the players allowed to leave, and after a month on loan with Darlington he joined Rushden & Diamonds on loan for the second half of the season, making 17 appearances and scoring once in their successful rise to Conference safety.

Highly-regarded in the game for his ability in the air and strength in the tackle, and with over 200 senior appearances under his belt, Mark is a good organiser and brings valuable experience to the centre of defence.

In January 2008 the already-established vice-captain signed a two-year contract extension to 2010.
