Cambridge United Secure Second Division Safety

Posted on: Wed 17 Nov 2004

For one night only, Cambridge United fans became Wycombe's biggest supporters as the Bucks side travelled to Bristol Rovers. Rovers needed to avoid defeat last night to force the U's into a nervous last Saturday at Swansea, but goals from Dannie Senda and Danny Bulman allowed brows to be mopped in relief a few days earlier than expected.

Of course there had to be a twist in the tail - Cambridge United fans have endured two seasons of nail-biting tension. Bristol Rovers duly pulled one back with a long ten minutes remaining (plus about a month's injury time) but the Pirates goal proved too little, too late keeping them four points behind the U's with just one match remaining.

United fans are therefore cordially invited to a final day knees-up in South Wales . or, if you can't get there, via the regular updates on this site.
