Peters Resumes Coaching Role

Mark Peters has resumed his duties as player-coach.
The defender has been under treatment for a foot injury for several weeks but he is now fit enough to resume coaching and he has been working with the defence this week.
"He's nearly fit and he's resuming as player-coach, which is the role he was filling under the Chairman when I came in," confirmed Jimmy Quinn.
"He's a good lad and he's in the same mould as Andy Duncan, a leader on and off the pitch, and those sort of players can be hard to find.
"What I'm doing now is sectioning off some of the training so I can work with the forwards, Steve (Castle) can take the midfielders and Mark will work with the defence. He wants to get more involved in coaching and he can use his experience to help some of the players individually and bring some of the youngsters on."
Peters is thought to be one or two weeks away from a return to playing.
Midfielder Ben Sedgemore has left the club after being released from his non-contract terms.
He joined last month and scored at York on his first start, but Quinn explained, "Because of the long layoff he had with an injury he's a bit behind the others.
"He's another good lad and he was Canvey's Player of the Year last season, but he's been out for a while and he's not got back to that same level yet.
"If I had the finances I'd like to keep him but I need people to do a job right now and he needs to go somewhere and play regularly and get that sharpness back, but I'd like to thank him for his contribution while he was here."
Quinn has now released three players in the last week - non-contract defenders Trevor Robinson and Liam Norval left last week - and he confirmed that he is trying to trim the size of the squad with a view to bringing in a player or two to boost the quality of the squad.
"A lot of the clubs at this level are in the same boat and we have to get one or two players out before we can get some in," he explained, "but we'll keep working with what we've got and hopefully be able to introduce one or two new faces."
