Andy Duncan's Signed and Match-Worn Shirt

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2006

You have the unique opportunity to bid for Andy Duncan's home shirt, which is not only match worn and signed, but carries its own little bit of history from the Boxing Day match against Stevenage.

During a close-fought and physical match there was an incident towards the end of the game that saw club captain Andy Duncan demonstrate his displeasure at the nature of a second tackle within a few minutes by the same Stevenage player. The resulting 'discussion' resulting in Duncan receiving a booking, which kept him out of the return match on January 2nd , and Stevenage's Ollie Berquez being sent off.

Andy Duncan and the torn shirtAndy tells us: "I didn't notice at the time because it was right at the end of the match and I was still a bit wound up as I came off the pitch.

"However at the following home match against Canvey Island when I pulled my shirt on in the dressing room I noticed it was torn down the front during my 'discussion' with a Stevenage player.

"It was obviously too late to do anything about it then because we only have one shirt each, understandably because of the financial situation of the club. However commercial manager Heather had a new one ready at half-time and I've signed the torn one, which is up for auction - but I'm not sure that anybody would want it as it is torn."

The auction closes on Friday afternoon, and the winning bidder will be invited to meet Andy in the Harris Suite after the Gravesend game on Saturday to be personally presented with the signed shirt.

Duncan concluded, "I've got a bit of a wager going with Heather as to whether anybody will want the shirt so it will be interesting to see what happens with the auction and if I'm going to win the bet!"

The club's official online auctions are a popular and easy way to bid for unique items of club memorabilia so keep your eyes peeled for a series of unusual and collectable items over the next few weeks.
