Countdown begins to "Cambridge 'Til I Die" Deadline Day and book Publication
There is now less than one month for fans to submit their stories for the forthcoming publication Cambridge 'Til I Die. The project has proved extremely popular with U's fans with scores of stories already submitted. Cambridge Fans United (CFU) wishes to remind fans that they still have time to submit a story - provided they are quick! The deadline of 16th Sept 2010 is fast approaching.
Cambridge 'Til I Die is a book written by the fans, for the fans. As well as CFU's investment in the project, finance has been provided by the National Literacy Trust, the Arts Council England, the Football Foundation and the Professional Footballers' Association. Ridgeons Timber & Builders Merchants have also generously sponsored the project.
The book is full of fans' Cambridge United tales, and all U's supporters reading this article are likely to have a collection of events and experiences that have been stored away in the memory banks during their time following the Club. Perhaps you would like to share your earliest CUFC memories, your favourite away trip, a chance meeting with one of your United heroes or an event that caused you to laugh (or cry!) during your time following CUFC?
Stories do not need to be lengthy, 500 words is suggested, and fans are also asked to submit accompanying photos as the publication will be in full colour.
Storytelling and writing sessions will be held at the Cambridge United Learning Centre on Sept 15th and 16th. Both days are being organized by CFU Member Doug Shulman in conjunction with the National Literacy Trust and staff from the Learning Centre. The first of these days is reserved for invited school children only, with the second day open to local groups and anyone else who wishes to attend. Full details of the session days and times will be made available to local press and online - keep an eye on www.cambridge-united.co.uk and www.cambridgefansunited.org
With publication in October, pre-orders for Cambridge 'Til I Die are already being taken. The cost is just £10 per book (plus P&P if applicable). Orders can be placed at the CFU Caravan on match days, or by telephoning CFU on 07957 344 005.
You can also pre-order via the CFU website: www.cambridgefansunited.org where you will find full details regarding Cambridge 'Til I Die and information on how to submit your story. Alternatively, stories can be sent to Legends Publishing: 18 Darby Crescent, Sunbury-on-Thames, TW16 5LA.
The first 500 pre-orders are guaranteed to have their name (or the name of someone of their choosing) on the dedications page. This is a wonderful idea and allows those who pre-order the option to either include their own name or dedicate the book to a loved one, perhaps their father, mother, child, etc.
Cambridge 'Til I Die contains a whole raft of interesting and amusing tales; all illustrated with full colour photos.
CFU Trust Board member, Kevin Robson, concluded "We'd just like to thank U's fans for their great response and also Ridgeons, whose generous sponsorship has helped finance the project. The book is looking better than we could have dreamed of - with some terrific tales and photographs. We have high hopes that fans are going to love the book, which will be available very soon."
