John Schofield on trial

Posted on: Tue 06 Jul 2010

Martin Ling has brought in former Lincoln City manager John Schofield on trial during the pre-season preparations.

Martin told cambridgeunited.com, "Both myself and John know each other through coaching courses, never having worked together previously we think it's best to asses our strengths and weaknesses and see if it's a match that will work for the benefit of Cambridge United."

"He's a highly qualified coach, he has every badge you can, his CV fits the bill but I think it's important the personalities match as well and it must be a comfortable three man team with myself, John and Paul Carden to form a collective coaching unit."

Schofield is a Uefa Pro Licence Holder and launched a career as head of youth development at Lincoln City ten years ago and moved on to become the first-team coach and then manager. He has also been assistant manager at Cheltenham recently.
