Daryl Clare has completed his £10,000 switch from Gateshead to Cambridge United today having passed his medical and signed a two-year-contract with the Club.
31-year-old Clare spoke to cambridgeunited.com moments after putting pen to paper and commented, "I'm delighted to be here finally! I've almost signed here a few times in the past and know all about the Club.
"I realise I've had quite a few moves in recent years for a variety of reasons, but I'm here to be the leading scorer for the next two seasons.

"I've scored goals wherever I've been and my two main strengths are my football brain and eye for goal - you don't lose those qualities with age."
Daryl went on, "Cambridge have already signed a number of talented young players and are looking to have a successful season. Hopefully I can bring a bit of experience to the table to help the younger players that are coming through.
"I've got a great scoring record against Cambridge, so I'm equally confident it'll be just as impressive for the Club."
"I'm sure the fans will already know me quite well, I've had quite a bit of banter with them over the years. I am looking forward to playing in front of them, they are a vociferous bunch and I remember the racket they made at Burton a few years ago in the play offs and in the return leg."
Daryl ended by saying, "Martin is building a good squad, there is a really positive feel around the Club and I can't wait to get stuck in."
