Cambridge United manager Martin Ling has spoken exclusively to cambridgeunited.com this afternoon, giving an update on the current situation regarding finalising his squad for the 2010/11 campaign.
He explained, "My understanding is that both Danny Crow and Dan Gleeson will sign for Luton Town next week. They've both had medicals but they've not announced anything officially as we speak."
It was announced at the All Star game last week that seven players had committed their futures to the club [ARTICLE] and Martin is working towards having the squad finalised in time for when the players report back for pre-season training on 4 July.
Martin went on, "I am in the process of brining in a group of five players to the Club. We need a senior centre-half, senior centre-midfielder and a senior centre-forward, to make sure the core of our team is very strong. I'd like that centre-half to be Brian Saah and expect to have an answer from him soon.
"We will then need another forward to add competition to Marriott, Wright and the senior centre-forward we'll be bringing in. We also need a left-footed winger to give balance to our squad." he added.
Martin called for patience from supporters and explained there is a growing number of players becoming available to him.
"The process is ongoing and there are more and more players becoming available on a daily basis, with league clubs doing their retained and released list." he said
"I would ask fans to show patience at this time, as I need to make sure the people I bring in are the right people.
"With the season starting a week later than we first anticipated, on the 14th August, this also gives us a little more time, with the players reporting back for pre-season training on 4th July. This is the date I'm aiming to get everyone in place by."
