Big Dave is Back!

Posted on: Mon 10 May 2010

Premier League Stoke City's record signing Dave Kitson will return to the R Costings Abbey Stadium this evening to feature as part of the 'All-Star' game to raise funds for Cambridge United Youth Development.

Kitson left the U's in December 2003 to join Reading before moving on to Stoke City, breaking their record transfer fee.

The former United player has been monumental in supporting the campaign and even organised the media to meet U's Director of Football Jez George at the Britannia Stadium during the first few days of the Walk. Dave appeared on Sky Sports News expressing his backing for the campaign and his thoughts on the current situation relating youth funding outside the Football League.

Jez said "I cannot thank Dave enough for his support of our campaign. He recognises the rules are unfair and has gone out of his way to help us. We are very excited to welcome him back for the first time since he left, and I think the fans will feel the same. His backing has been superb and he's been so helpful in heightening the public awareness and making the relevant authorities take notice."

Kitson will also be bringing former United players Shane Tudor and Warren Goodhind to feature in the 'All-Star' game this evening who played alongside Dave at the Abbey.

Kick off this evening is 7pm and tickets for the game are £8 for adults and £2 for children. The North Terrace and Main Stand will be open for general admission.

Please come along and support the future of Cambridge United.
