Jez George updates on day 18 of his 19-day, 410 mile Walk for Change.

As I settle down for bed tonight I can see the Wembley arch, so I know my monumental journey is almost at an end and judging by the state of my feet that's perhaps just as well.

The first two or three miles today I was extremely tentative due to the blisters I mentioned yesterday, but once you get going and the ibuprofen kicks in, the pain subsides. It was also a real psychological boost to get inside the M25 and once I hit Hayes it became much easier. There was place after place within a mile of each other, which makes you feel like you're making progress, and things to look at which keeps your mind off walking.

It was very difficult for Jez Daniel to stay with me through London, but by now I had my 'game head' on and was walking as quickly as I could.

For the first time this Walk, today I have been thinking about the finish and am counting down to the end. Previously thoughts of how many miles were left would have been hugely demotivating, but once it got below 30 today, it became a real driving force. The only negative in the last couple of hours was an unwelcome development with my right knee, which, despite needing an operation on my return, has so far been as good as gold. This afternoon, however, it gave me a reminder of why I need the operation. I think it was politely asking me to stop.

I managed to get five miles the other side of Southall tonight, at North Acton underground station, leaving just nine miles to complete in the morning and the same again for Monday to arrive at Wembley.

Tomorrow I will be going to the Arsenal vs. Fulham match with Jim Rosenthal, plus with Tom Pell - my trusty driver/photographer. Pelly has started and finished this walk with me which is brilliant as he's a top lad. The support I've had from current and ex youth development has been fantastic and much appreciated. Whilst Pelly is doing this instead of his full time job, others have given up days at work in order to help, so a huge thank you' goes to James Cutting, Nigel 'sat nav' Hurrell, Angus Meichan, Alan Johnson, Scott Fielding, Steve Lilley, Stuart Wood and Jez Daniel. I've also been helped along the way by a number of walkers from Rory McAuley, who led the way with 26 miles, to Renford Sargent, who did one mile in the hills of the Peak District. They have all been a great help and welcome company, they know who they are so a big thank you to them all too.

So off to the Emirates it is and hopefully Pelly can to get a few snaps of me with Arsene and a few others tomorrow.
