United travel to Wales this Saturday to face a crisis-hit Wrexham outfit.
Dragons boss Dean Saunders is under severe pressure from the club's fans following his side's 2-1 defeat to Barrow in midweek, their sixth successive game without a win.
It is a run that has seen Wrexham's faint play-off hopes extinguished, and they now lie in 12th position, one point ahead of the U's.
Following the Holker Street defeat, Saunders (below) claimed to be "dumbfounded" by the result.
He told the BBC: "The first goal is an unbelievable error by the goalkeeper and then Ashley [Westwood] kicked it in his own net.

"The second goal, Sakho's given the ball away in front of his own goal and the lad's whacked it in.
"The harder we try, the more difficult it seems to get and the less luck we get."
Wrexham look set to spend a third season in Non-League, and the club appears to have been on the slide since 2004 when former Chairman Alex Hamilton bought the Racecourse Ground privately weeks into his tenure, then promptly served the club notice to quit.
His purpose was to sell the stadium for development purposes and, although the fans won their battle with Hamilton, they became financially stricken. Relegation from League One followed, with administration not far behind. A mid-table League Two finish was achieved in 2006, whilst they narrowly avoided the drop a year later when concluding five points from safety.
But 2007/08 proved disastrous. The tone was set early with six defeats in the opening eight League games, and they entered December hovering one point from the drop-zone.
By this time Manager Brian Carey had stepped aside, allowing Little to take the reins whilst Carey stayed as Assistant boss. But the experienced boss was unable to halt the slide, and Wrexham were relegated following a 2-0 defeat to Hereford.

Hopes were high that Little could help the Red Dragons bounce back at the first attempt, but despite the signings of experienced Conference campaigners such as Tom Kearney and Jefferson Louis, a poor start saw him sacked with Saunders, a golfing buddy of chairman Neville Moss, agreeing to take the reigns.
Former Liverpool, Villa, and Wales striker Saunders is also assistant coach to John Toshack in the Welsh international set up, but despite some early success, his ever-changing side tailed off in the second half of the season, and ended up finishing 10th, some 15 points off the play-offs. A similar finish this term now appears to be the best they can hope for.
The Squad
Last term Wrexham seemed to be making an attempt on the record for most players used in a season, with a succession of loanees and short term signings coming and going as Saunders sought to arrest his team's slide.
It's been a similar story this time around, with an ever-changing cast of players again failing to make an impact.
Number one keeper for this season is Sam Russell, formerly of Bolton, with back up provided by Chris Maxwell.
Guessing the Wrexham line up is a tricky business, but Saunders has favoured a 4-4-2 formation in recent weeks, and is without two experienced defenders, Frank Sinclair and Manni Assoumani, who are both suspended.
Welsh international Mike Williams and skipper Ashley Westwood, formerly of Stevenage, can therefore be expected to be paired in the centre of defence, with Curtis Obeng, who joined from Manchester City in the summer, likely to come in on the left, and Jamaican Silvio Spann filling the right back birth.
Former U's loanee Christian "Brickwall" Smith (pictured below) has been anchoring the midfield of late, with the more attack-minded Mark Williams alongside him. On the flanks Wrexham have pace in Andy Fleming and Wes Baynes, who specialises in long range goals.

Up front 36-year old Welsh international Gareth Taylor is currently out injured, but Saunders can call on £50,000 man Andrew Mangan, who signed from Forest Green Rovers in January. Livewire striker Mangan, who was top scorer in the division last term, is likely have Senegal international Lamine Sakho alongside him.
This Season
Like many teams in this division, consistency has been a problem for Wrexham this term.
Their first ten games yielded four wins, one draw, and five defeats, and while September brought three defeats from four games, including a 2-0 reverse at the Abbey - with goals from Wayne Hatswell (celbrating below) and Robbie Willmott - October and November saw them lose just twice in 11 games, with a good run in the FA Cup coming to an end at the second round stage with defeat at League One Swindon.

The snow and ice, together with an early FA Trophy exit to Altrincham, meant December and January were barren months at the Racecourse Ground, with Wrexham not playing between December 15 - January 23.
But the lay off didn't seem to affect them particularly badly, and indeed since the enforced winter break they have claimed good victories against AFC Wimbledon, Crawley, and Mansfield.
However, the recent bad run of form has seen fans turn on Saunders, and it will be interesting to see how the players react when they come up against United on Saturday.
Last Time
Our fixture at the Racecourse Ground last season took place on a Thursday night to accommodate Setanta.
And it was not a performance to remember from United, who slumped to a 2-0 defeat. With Gary Brabin employing a lop-sided 5-2-3 formation to include the returning Scott Rendell, the U's struggled to put together any cohesive attacking moves, and fell behind when Jonathan Brown fired across Danny Potter and into the net with the help of a slight deflection.
Jefferson Louis made it two just after half time to wrap up the points, and United's best opportunity fell to substitute Felino Jardim, who headed over the bar from six yards with the goal gaping.
