Alongside United gaining another three points and in the process extending the unbeaten run U's defender Josh Coulson still found something else to celebrate.
After successive man of the match performances had brought him almost universal praise the young centre back netted the first goal of his career in the three-one victory over Salisbury City.
"It's been great to get the plaudits in recent matches but it's getting the goal that is really special. The man of the match awards have been really nice and thanks to those supporters and sponsors that have chosen me but as long as the team wins and we get the three points then that is the real awards. So, looking at the bigger picture the goal is just a bonus. To be fair Rory McAuley should have scored it but I'm glad he missed it and it just fell straight to me and after coming close in recent games I couldn't have been given a better chance to get a goal."
Scoring the equaliser was the moment Josh pinpointed when the game changed. Comparing the game to previous matches where results haven't gone for the U's he reflected on how United then took control over the remainder of the match.
"To get the goal so soon after they'd gone ahead I think turned the tide of the game. We could go back to the game plan and not go chasing the game. It just seemed to calm us down a little. In the past when we've conceded we have lost our heads a little so that steadied us and to get the second not long after meant that we were in the driving seat and from then on we really didn't look like losing the game."
Looking at his own emergence back into the starting eleven and the influx of new faces in recent weeks he looked back at the changes to his and United's performances.
"I feel like I'm doing myself justice now, I feel fitter and that all comes from playing games. I'm working harder in training in getting myself match fit. But it's all about playing games and getting more experience and I'm really enjoying playing my part in the team's improvement. The new players coming in have helped the team improve and the banter and togetherness of the squad is greater than it's ever been and it's showing in the results. I picked up the head injury tonight but the doc has checked me over and there shouldn't be anything to worry about so I expect to be part of the team for the trip."
After two home matches in the last four days the United faithful will take to the road and cross over the border to Wales on Saturday. Josh paid tribute to the travelling support and shared his hopes for the remainder of the season.
"It's another long way for the fans to go and we appreciate how much it costs them to make these trips to support us. Barrow the other week saw a magnificent turnout and they hopefully enjoyed the trip back after our win. So if we can keep on winning games for them and move up the league it would be great. We have the players here to be in the top half but it's just believing in ourselves that will put us there. So, as long as the games keep coming thick and fast and the results keep going our way we can climb the league and show what a force we can be."
