Crow Looks to Build on Draw
Disappointed not to be finishing on the winning side, two goal striker Danny Crow could at least take some consolation from the performance.
"We played well for the whole game but again they nicked a goal and shut up shop as they do so well and as they did Saturday, and yes it is frustrating to play against. We equipped ourselves well, Chris had a chance, so did Robbie as did I. You just think it's only a matter of time before we equalise.
"Then they get a second and you start to think what can we do? But to get the penalty within a minute gave us the lift and from then on we just kept pressing and pushing for not only the equaliser but to win it."
The three-man attack gave United more options going forward and it was something that the team had worked on since Saturday's defeat.
"We did a lot of work on the training ground yesterday with the formation using Robbie and Chris' pace in a eleven v eleven situation, and we went through it three or four times to get it right. That does give us more options when we really need to attack sides, especially when they come here to shut up shop as Eastbourne have done."
Danny is still finding it hard to believe the game finished all square, especially during the frantic last fifteen minutes when both goals were under threat.
"Rory had a fantastic chance late on and their keeper has pulled of an incredible block. Immediately they went up the other end and they had the most incredible miss that I've ever seen. I think we all thought he was going to score until his own man tackled him! But that summed up the game it could've finished five all."
With another home game on Saturday, Danny is looking for positives before York are our next visitors.
"It's frustrating that we only drew but it does stop the run of defeats and gives confidence to the younger lads. We keep saying we have to get this season back on track and although we again have failed to win we can build on this draw.
"Senior players are returning and we have the advantage that York will come here and think following their cup win that they will be favourites to leave with the three points.
"We still owe the fans a lot, and playing a team that won't just come here and sit back and defend will suit us just fine. We know we played well against them in the cup despite the result. We have under achieved this season and have let people down and we now have to step up and show people what we can do."
