Cambridge United's Learning Centre - 'United in Learning' has recently relocated from under the Main Stand to a new exciting purpose built centre under the South Stand. The new premises has a bright and airy feel and provides the perfect platform to drive the scheme further forwards.
'United in Learning' is used by school students from across Cambridgeshire who access the exciting facilities as part of their study support provision, and the centre has now worked with almost 1,000 students. Funding for the project comes from various partners, including the DCFS, Cambridge United Football Club and the Local Education Authority.
In addition to the after-school programmes, the centre works within school delivering Maths, English and Football coaching using sport and Cambridge United as a theme for learning. Next year will see daytime courses being delivered to adults in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
Using sport as a theme, the students' primary focus is on improving their Literacy, Numeracy and ICT skills but also enables students to develop in confidence, build self-esteem and shows improved attitudes and engagement in learning.
The centre is part of a national initiative called Playing for Success. There are approximately 160 learning centres up and down the country using sport to enhance learning amongst young people.

The centre is an excellent example of Community and Partnership working together. The Club is excited by the prospect of expanding its role in the educational programmes that will be developed and delivered through the Cambridge United Youth and Community Trust.
