Foyle: "U's Deserved Draw"
Martin Foyle felt York City's first goal turned the game in their favour on Saturday.
Michael Rankine's thunderbolt goal after 37 minutes came out of the blue after United had dominated possession and chances, and when Richard Brodie scored a penalty three minutes later it left United with a mountain to climb.
"I thought we played very well after a shaky first 20 minutes, which must give credit to Cambridge as they caused us lots of problems," he commented.
"But we settled down and it was a wonder goal from Michael Rankine that turned the game. Though when we went in at half time two-nil up we warned the lads that Cambridge had been in that position in their last two games and pulled it back."
Foyle felt York's victory was built on their solid defence, who repelled United's front men time after time and stood firm, especially near the end when they were put under extreme pressure.
"To be honest the probably deserved an equaliser towards the end but we defended well and that's what they are paid to do," he said.
"The two centre halves were outstanding, heading everything that came into the box to safety and the covering positions taken up by Danny Parslow and James Meredith were also excellent. I was absolutely pleased with the performance of the back four and the saves Michael Ingram pulled off.

"He couldn't do anything with their goal and when something like that goes in it makes the bench a horrible place to be. It makes me long for the day when I was playing and able to organise things; all I can do from the bench is shout and point and hope they listen."
Ending with more praise for United, Foyle concluded, "Along with Rushden, Cambridge are the best side we have come up against this season and they can take a lot from how they played today.
"I'm sure they will be challenging come the shake up at the end of the season as for us we are as you could see by the fans reaction ecstatic to be in the third round."
