Visiting manager Justin Edinburgh praised both teams after Tuesday's wind-blown 2-2 draw at the R Costings Abbey Stadium.
"I think it was probably a point gained," he said after his side took a 2-0 lead in the first half but saw United level after the break through a long-range Paul Carden thunderbolt and Brian Saah's first goal for the club.
"It was a tough game, we started brightly and went 2-0 up but we knew the wind was going to be difficult to contend with. Sometimes you've got to give credit to the opposition; they never laid down and died and they're a good side. I expected that and they were probably worthy of the draw in the end."
Edinburgh admitted that his side were in control at half-time following goals from Lee Tomlin and Jefferson Louis, but added, "You could see the strength of the wind. Danny Potter is a top, top kicker of the ball and he's probably the best in this league, and for someone like him not to be getting it over the halfway line we knew it was going t be difficult.
"But we knew Cambridge had spirit, we knew they'd come back from two goals down at Luton on Saturday, and they did the same today.
"Credit to my boys; after going two up and then for them to equalise with still a long period of the game to go I thought we dug in and showed a good resilience and I think it's a point gained.
"We've taken four points on the road in two games and I don't think you can complain about that."
Edinburgh felt his players could have done more to prevent United's goals, but although the draw ended his side's run of seven wins in all competitions he reflected positively on the performance:
"We're disappointed; I think we could have dealt with situations prior to each goal - I certainly didn't think it was a free kick before the second goal - but you have to deal with that. I thought we could have deal with the first phase of the ball leading up to the first goal, but I think maybe this time last year we would have lost that game so there's a lot of positives to take.
"That's nine games unbeaten and sometimes you praise the opposition and you praise yourselves."
