Team News

Martin Ling again has a fully fit squad to select from and he is likely to leave the team unchanged for a eighth successive match.

Courtney Pitt was removed from the transfer list on Saturday when Ling revealed that a "situation had arisen" with the winger's contract but has now been resolved, and he added that Pitt would now feature a lot more in future.

However, with the team unbeaten in seven matches and having conceded just one goal in those games, the 27-year-old looks likely to be among the substitutes again tonight, with Ling telling the website, "The team is doing A-OK and Courtney will have to wait his time until things are right for him to get a starting berth."

Pitt has only played five minutes football in the last month, coming off the bench late in Saturday's 2-0 win at home to Wrexham, but Ling confirmed that the winger has maintained his fitness during a month on the sidelines:

"There's no reserve football so it's very difficult to get them football, and there are a few in the same position as Courtney, but they keep their fitness up as best they can through the training scenario.

"We've got a clean bill of health after Saturday and we're all fit and ready to go tonight; hopefully we'll put in a good performance at York in a difficult game."

The Other Side

Managed by Martin Foyle, in his second managerial post after a three-year spell in charge at Port Vale where he also spent nine years as a player, York City have conceded just one goal at home all season.

Goals may be at a premium in tonight's contest between two of the meanest defences in the league and Ling is expecting another tough workout against one of the teams fancied to push for promotion this season.

"They're a team that I expect to be around the top area of the table so it will be a tough game," he said. "They were watching us on Saturday and they're going to try to impose their game on us, and we need to be as resilient as we can be then express ourselves off the back of that.

"If you're going to be a force at any level of football, a strong defence allows you to build from that solid base, which we certainly have at present, and we've worked on that throughout the team. We defend as a team just like we attack as a team so it's pleasing for everyone that we've conceded so few goals in the last few games."

Ling concluded, "It will be a game between two teams that try to play good football and hopefully the conditions will allow us to do that tonight."
